The Vaudeville Villain
Chicago Hip-Hop came out Saturday evening for the MOSDOOM show at The Congress Theater. Line waiting reached an hour for some, but eventually everyone entered and enjoyed opening acts BBU, Qwel & Maker, Mike Relm, and Psalm One. Restlessness set in as Mos Def got started, and the surly crowd quickly began chanting “Doom”. What followed was a doubtable MF Doom and disappointing to most.
Judge for yourself. The folks at Fake Shore Drive have shared some footage-
Did Doom diss Chicago or was he just playing the role of “Vaudeville Villain” to perfection?
The underground rapper already has a reputation of sending imposters to perform his gigs. One of Doom’s aliases,Viktor Vaughn, proclaims: “V. Vaughn, the traveling Vaudeville Villain, Who don’t give a flying fuck who ain’t not feeling him.”
And currently, Doom’s wikipedia page reads: “Doom has recently been upsetting fans with continuous no-shows at performances, leaving his phony masked impostors to be booed off stages city after city.”
So, despite the hate, this weekend’s MOSDOOM show furthered the notoriety of the metal faced rapper/madman and his antics. Thank you Cold Grums for letting Novem roll out a rack of shirts and kick it with the people.
And thankfully, our buddy Roper provided this great classic footage of DOOM in Chicago. Enjoy.

The Response
So wait.. I can just make music, say i have a ‘character’ that does it and just stay home? How is that any different from Brit Spears, or any other half-ass lip sync performer? At least they have the decency to show up.
Sorry DOOM, you’ve just been downgraded to ‘I’m gonna pirate all your shit’ status.
i got a real good vid.
